TEOCHEW PORRIDGE @ CHIN SIANG, JALAN KHOO HEANG YUN, KUCHING

Was a bit under the weather, thus the porridge (watery rice). Unlike Cantonese porridge (Chuk) this one is more like rice with water added to it; the grain is still in tact. For a sick Chinese, this is the way to go... comfort food!

Plain Teochew Porridge

Fried Omelette with Chai-Po (Preserved Turnip)

Fried Belacan KangKong (Water Convolvulus with Shrimp Paste)

Ginger Venison

Steamed Minced Pork

The photos are self-explanatory. Taste-wise the food was okay, but a tad expensive. Well, this is the tourist belt! This place, which is opposite the Electra House (Kuching's first shopping mall) is collectively called the "Open-Air Market". It used to be a transit point for all the buses. Nowadays, mini buses (legal and illegal ones) have taken over its place.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
