DINNER @ ABALONE & SHARKFIN RESTAURANT, JALAN BAN HOCK, KUCHING

For some people, birthday isn't birthday if you don't celebrate the Chinese birthday (according to calendrier Chinois). Thus, this is the second birthday dinner in 3 weeks after the first one. If there is any trace of Indian or Jewish blood, I'm sure we're be celebrating those too.

This is the first time I've tried this place. Although this restaurant prides itself as an abalone and shark fin specialist, we are not falling for those (o.k., we have one cheap one). This is a simple meal for six. Great portioning; just enough to around. Can't fault the food and its price. The serving crew is another story. They ain't a happy lot, according to my inside source. You'd better try this one out if you haven't already, before it goes under like the one farther up the road. The restaurant occupies a portion of the ground floor of the Grand Continental Hotel, and it's a different entity from the hotel.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
