DINNER @ BLUE SPLENDOR, WISMA SANYANG, SIBU

By all accounts, this town (Sibu) prides itself on cheap food galore. It's basically food for the tummy and not for the soul. So what do you expect from a restaurant whose normal fare consists of the usual suspects ranging from cold dish to fried Chinese Pancake? Nothing much, you say! Well, you'd better chuck your stereotype notion out the window.

While there was a wedding dinner in the main hall providing us with all the unsolicited karaoke jangle, 12 of us barricaded ourselves into one of its partitioned rooms. For starters, all our food served were portioned into individual small plates, as seen above.

The Cold Dish... A bit of everything from fishcake to tofu.

Liquidized Spinach (Poh Chai) Soup with Fish's Stomach

Roast Duck with Fruit Salad

Stuffed Deep Fried Fish Roll

Vermicelli Wrapped Shrimp

Watercress Soup with Egg White Swirl

Mango Sago Pudding

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
