CHÁNG (RICE DUMPLING) @ TING'S NOODLE HOUSE, JALAN BAN HOCK, KUCHING

I have no idea what type of dumpling this is. It certainly ain't Hokkien or Nonya. The proprietor/chef is a Foochow married to a Taiwanese... I guess, a toss between the two.

I had one of these for lunch, take-away. It's glutinous rice with minced pork and preserved turnips (Chai Poh) wrapped in bamboo leaves. It has too much turnips for my liking. It lacks the sinfulness (pork belly) of a Hokkien Cháng and
the tempestuousness of Nonya's Cháng.... coming from the mouth of someone who is partial to the 2 above mentioned Chángs. There's no harm in giving it a go, if you don't like it, that's it; or eat and eat and it until you grow accustomed to it.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
