KAMPUA MEE @ QQ NOODLE HOUSE, PARK MALL, PENANG ROAD, SINGAPORE

Kampua Singapore Style

I'm not one of those who hyper-ventilate without having one's fix of kolo mee or kampua mee. I was in the neighborhood to have my plane booking confirmed, and this basement eatery happens to be next door. Besides, it was lunch time.

This outfit is a Heng Hua operation - formerly from Sibu. The noodle is home-made, and it's heavy like the real McCoy, unlike the Singapore's counterpart, which is light. The Singaporean servers are clueless if you order Kampua; talk to the big guy behind the counter who's cooking the noodle. He's the proprieter's son. Specify "Dark" if you want dark soy sauce on it, otherwise it's just the "light" standard fare. To suit the local taste, minced meat, vegetable and wonton (Pian Nik) soup are added. Verdict: the noodle is good, and its taste is quite close to the real thing.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
