CURRY RICE @ WAI CHANG CAFÉ, CAPENTER STREET, KUCHING

This is the coffee shop next to the Hainanese building (its association isn't there anymore), remember? Besides ready-cooked food on chaffing dishes, it offers curry chicken rice; it's the type of curry a Chinese mother would cook (not the Hongky cornstarch kind or the potato induced one)... it's less spice oriented than the Indian ones, and not the watered down ones from the likes of Too-Kar-P'ng's or the Open-Air's.

The chicken curry rice costs RM3.50. It comes with a bowl of chicken curry (3 pcs. meat plus 1 potato), a plate of rice with pickled sliced cucumber and a bowl of soup. The rich amber color of the curry, generous cut of meat and the subtle taste of coconut milk are what make it so enticing. This is the next best thing to mum's!

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
