CHICKEN MEE SUAH SOUP @ MINSION CAFÉ, JALAN CHAN CHIN ANN, KUCHING

If you have seen another good-looking Chicken Mee Suah (Thread Noodle) Soup as the one below, flag me! The poached egg is considered a misdemeanor going by the book, in which hard boiled egg is the way to go; but then again this is not a half-baked Foochow eatery, and going against the gain seems to be its mantra...

Not only is the poached egg visually appealing, it makes handling and eating it a lot easier; if you've tried gripping a hard boiled egg with a pair of chopsticks (without poking it), you'll know what I mean.

The color of the soup has an amber hue to it due to the Chinese red wine used. And it has a more sour taste than the norm; Hakka would attribute it to the way Foochows make their red wine, which has a tendency to go sour over time. No time for the 'who's on first' argument.

The chicken is nicely poached that it easy tears off with each bite. Also it's deboned, so there's no fiddling with the bone. Neat!

This place is behind the old KTS office and in front of Benson Seafood.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
