Hors D'oeuvre Platter

If you're into great Chinese food at incredible price (i.e. if you're Singaporean), Sibu is the place to be... you won't be disappointed. This 3 stories Chinese restaurant, off Jalan Lanang (Behind Hotel Kawan), is not swanky by any standard, but service can be described as attentive, even on a fully packed night.

Das Bot, Das Bot!!! This seems to be standard opening fare in most restaurant, and any restaurant that's worth its pitch of salt seem to have one version or the other. It consists of various seafood, fried, deep-fried and steamed.

Steamed Indonesian (Translated: Poor Man's) Empurau

This is a cheaper version of the Kapit Empurau fish. Good enough for curry fishhead dish, but no sane person would attempt to spoil the natural taste of a perfectly good fish. The full-bodied shark fin's soup is something you'd sink your teeth into - a crunch in every bite.

Suckling Piglet

The half suckling piglet seems to be the house specialty, with its half fried Mantou (buns). The crispy skin is something to savor. Lastly, it's braised scallops with asparagus. A medium-light meal for 10, without all the trappings.

Sòng Quái-Quái!!!

Agreed! Sibu is the right place to be for sumptuous chinese foods. The top restaurants there simply outshine the very best in Kuching.

sometimes you wonder how they can ever offer out quality food and ridiculously low price... is it the "underwater" factor? remember the days days when west malaysians come to sibu to buy hi-fi and huge t.v. sets?

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...

May the Farce be With You!
