FRIED PORK KIDNEY & LIVER @ LADY CAFÉ, JALAN LANANG, SIBU

Came here for breakfast... thought I had fried Sambal Beehoon (vermicelli) for a change from the usual koay teow. Then I got to talking to Ghim Eng when she was free from her frying. She mentioned that the above mentioned dish from D' lady was good apart from its fishballs. So the kidney and liver, I ordered for the sake of trying it out. And D' lady (right) said :"You can't possibly finish that." Little did she know that I had reinforcement coming.

It was one of the best fried liver and kidney I ever had, so far. No pinkness showing and yet very tender, with only a slight hint of the ginger's aroma despite its abundant topping. The Chinese chives nicely counter-balanced the all meaty taste.

Although this may be D' lady's domain, the cooking are all done by the Indonesian kitchen hands - from preparing the noodle at the front of the shop to the zi-char in the kitchenette at the back. Even the nice plate of fried liver and kidney was executed by them. D' lady was just cruising around taking orders and collecting payments. And the Kak-Kaks have this message for the Food Bigot:

SAA-NEE-KU-YONG, EDDIE!!!

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...
