For those longing for a piece of home's hawker's food, this is the place to be; it's as authentic as any chicken rice stalls found in Malaysia or Singapore. But don't get your hopes too high, as there are some good ones and mostly pedestrian ones; this belongs to middle of the road. This is as good as any Melbourian Hainanese Chicken gets. One can order a bit of extra on the rice, as with the omelette below. The chicken's potion is about ¼ chicken, which tastes like all poached chicken should. Its chilli has too much vinegar and lacking of the ginger and garlic taste (probably doesn't want to stinks one's mouth). Its accompanying bowl of soup can be described as few greens on MSG water. But don't let my opinion discourages you; this is one of the few Malaysian/Singaporean eateries still left standing in town.

The best I've had is at Old Town Kopitiam at QV. It really is good.
(I'm Singaporean!)
The one at the new Jalan Alor, next to China Red is pretty good.
I had the byrani rice Old Town QV and the color is not even yellow. is there a law against food color, but the one served at Minh Xoung, Russell, has an artifical yellow like the Byrani, Yuk!
Malaymas on St Georges Road, North Fitzroy sells out if you don't get there early enough!
thanks for passing the info.
