SPOTTED @ KUCHING FOOD FESTIVAL 2009

When you have the same ol', same ol' for the past decade or so, there's nothing much to get excited about this annual food event. Most of the food featured here can be gotten around town, and you don't have to pay inflated prices on them; or even jostle for tables and chairs. But then there are suckers, and there are suckers... like this one...

... going to the fair year after year, hoping to find the holy grail of some sort. This year's unusual entries are the steamed basket rice, and the fried burger. The former being rice cooked in a straw-weaved basket. It absorbs the aroma of the straw; thus giving it the unique characteristic. The amount of rice in there comes to about 3 to 4 spoonful, with different toppings. Those 2 are mushrooms and ham. I think the basket costs more than the rice itself for a RM2 pouch.

The fried burger (above) seems like something new. You get a crackling skin on the initial bite, and then followed by a sucker punch; you'd been had for paying so much for wtf!!! It's nothing more than ordinary burger on a bun, wrapped with wonton/popiah wrapping skin, and then deep-fried... too late, no refund!

ABOUT THIS BLOG

As the name implies, it's all about nothing! Kongkaying is like grasping in the air - more like hot air with occasional fartulence. Hopefully, something aromatic will come out of it! If not...

May the Farce be With You!
