CHICKEN RICE @ TRAVILLION SIN CHEW CHICKEN RICE, JLN. ANG CHENGHO, KUCHING

I written on this eatery before, when it was called Sin Chew Chicken Rice. Since it has relocated to this shop, it adds a prefix of sort to its name to let people know of its origin. Normally, I wouldn't blog on the same food/place again after a short spell. But then, the roller canvas blind in front of the shop caught my eyes:''We also serve delicious Singapore Mandarin Hotel's signature Chicken Rice...''
Such bold statement deserves a second scrutiny...
... even though my Mandarin's experience was umpteen years ago, this one hardly rekindles a candle. First off, the soup is chicken bones bag dipped into hot water for 3 minutes; it would have worked fine if it was tea bag. The rice, although puffy and light, is a borderline case of hit and miss, sorely seeking a more defined chicken aroma. The chicken bones reek blood; even a splash of sesame oil and light soy sauce can't disguise the unpleasant sight of the under-cooked portion of the chicken.
All that being said, this place seems to do a vanishing act when I passed by last week; there's a new eatery in its place. Any clue, anyone?
